Jamaal “The Tax Guy” Solomon is a fellow taxpayer on a mission to take the fear out of taxes. He is a federally licensed Enrolled Agent (EA). There’s nothing wrong with college students that becoming taxpayers won’t cure. If you they have a paid job and their parents are claiming them as a dependent, there’s no need to file an income tax return. However, if they have a paying gig regardless if their parents claim them or not, they need to get to know Uncle Sam. College students will learn when to file a tax return, and where. In addition, college students will learn what deductions and credits they are eligible to claim.
